The birds, bees, and flowers are in full swing here now. The drab and the cold are gone – color and the warm summer sun have replaced them. This is just a sampling, and I didn’t even have to leave my yard to get these. Hope you enjoy!
Warmer days will be here soon.
Sometimes it takes a little flare
Found a fun iPad app called LensFlareHD. It’s not something you will want to use every day but when you can, it will turn some good shots into memorable shots.
The example here is a beautifully intricate hand-painted ceramic dish from Thailand. This dish is only about 2-inches in diameter by the way, so I shot it with the 100mm f/2.8L and MR-14EX macro ring light to fill the frame and show the details. After transferring to the iPad I did a square crop, levels adjustment, and placed the copyright. From here I opened the image in LensFlareHD and went shopping for the flare I wanted. With over 40 to choose from and try you can spend some time just picking one out. From there you can adjust the color of the flare, brightness, rotation, scale, etc. After messing around for a few minutes I settled on this one.
I think it adds just that little bit to make it special. Oh, did I mention that the app also has a library of different lenslights like light leaks, chroma spots, and those out of focus color blurs for that artistic feel. Also, there’s an on-board user’s manual – nice touch! All-in-all the app is easy to use, rich with content, and a lot of fun too! Check it out for yourself on the App Store or at Brainfevermedia.com – enjoy!
